When she was 11 years old, the Nazis occupied Poland

Family was forced to leave their village

Placed in a ghetto before being deported to different camps

Majority of her family was sent to Auschwitz and murdered

Rivka was deported to Parschnitz, a forced labor camp in Czechoslovakia

After the war she went to Israel, joined the Israeli army, lived in a kibbutz in Haifa, became a military nurse

Early 1950s: Rivka – now Regina – learned that she had a surviving relative in Israel

Would come to United States on a tourist visa
